Welcome aboard.
Don't feel like you've paid your dues by locking yourself out of the machine. There's far worse to come. You still haven't had an rm -r, chown -r, or chmod -r experience yet (notice the -r in all of the examples. Beware of the -r, I'm telling you).
Trust me, there's rough waters ahead. But it's worth it.
I hope you've put in a support ticket. They should be able to login from the console and get you back up. Worst case, they can boot off of a cd and undo the damage. Embarrassing, perhaps. Permanent, no.
