If you just want to give him access to one or two databases, why not install a seperate copy of phpMyAdmin? You can limit it to one database... Just make to installs. Or give him remote IP access so he can use SQLyog or HeidiSQL to manage it from his desktop?

Of course if there's other things, it depends on what they are if you can get away without giving CPanel access.
