For the hostname i believe its just a matter of going into cpanel and under networking>hostname and choosing a new one? i did it about a week ago and havent had a problem, but i honestly cant remember right now if thats all I did. I think i went to DECC and changed the RDNS as well.
As for the name servers, the only way to keep it would to keep your current name servers pointed to where they are. Your customers must change their name servers... so while you could change the IP's of the name servers without customer interaction... there is no way to make their dns records say ns1.newdomain instead of ns1.olddomain without it.
