I was finally notified that some of my content was causing too much strain on the server.
3 items were mentioned and I was puzzled to see that one of them was a static 3kbyte jpg causing high httpd usage:
/images/now_thumb.jpg?random98295
I can be without all 3 items but I don't understand how small static content can overload a web server (unless a DDOS was coordinated by a person).
The random bit after the ? was to avoid caching until I figured out Apache caching directives. There was nothing dynamic going on, nor was the JPG extension mapped to any scripts extensions.
Until now support has been excellent, always resolving any technical issue within 30 minutes.
This issue has however taken 2 days :-(
I was offered to upgrade to a dedicated server but I cannot justify those costs for a personal home page and I'd rather look for another shared hosting provider.
