Weird Occurance on a different hosting company.
Man, I had a bad day yesterday. I am not a newbie, but most of my sites are DEAD simple ones. So I never has website issues. I have been with Surpass about I year and some. No complaints. Its not like I ever would have, nothing much comes up. BUT, I have another reseller account....had it for years. I also had SEVERAL sites hosted with that same company that were paid for several years each when I had the $$$ to do so. There's probably 6 or so. I had THREE of them coming up for renewal this week and I wanted to move them to my reseller on this same host for awhile and then move all of the sites eventually all at once...probably in October.
OKAY, I email the company, told them to cancel the billing of these three sites and I TOLD them I was moving them to my reseller account.I went to the domain registrars ( two different ones) and changed the DNS to my reseller after creating accounts. THEN EVERYTHING WENT NUTS!
I originally got this account here on Surpass cause the original nice owner of the other host sold the company and support now sucks. I became ill and was unable to work on my sites so I never got all my stuff moved, THEN my computer crashed HARD and I was off line awhile.
As soon as I got another PC and got online again, I began to think about moving the sites.
You guys CANNOT imagine how tee'd off I was. I have a crewcut ( yes, I am a girl) and have no hair to pull out, but I ws trying!!! MY god....OKAY, I moved the files. The company has several nameservers. I was told I could use the old or the new. I chose the old ones cause I KNOW them by heart. OKAY, created my accounts in WHM, uploaded files, WAITED. One site went thru okay...20 minutes flat and all is well. The experience with the other two is enough to make me psychotic.
OKAY, herre's the short version,

( I HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE BUT DON'T remember why it happens)

checked in half an hour. Typed in Site #2's url...SITE #! was there, NOT SITE 2! HUH!
checked and Site 1's files were in Site 2's place...how in the freaking heck did that happen. I checked, rechecked and checked AGAIN. I ditched all the files and tried again.
AT FIRST Site #1 still had the INDEX OF page showing AGAIN and Site#2's stuff was there, no PROBLEM. I went to bed. When I got up, I checked AGAIN from my sister's Web Tv. Site 2 was there. Still had that Index of Page thing on Site 1
ONE HOUR later, Site 2 was again showing site 1's files. I tried starting over, creating a new account for each one, upload all the files, checked the DNS, and yet again, it was so EFFED-UP. I have uploaded websites and changed DNS for over seven years, I can do it in my sleep ( and probably HAVE done)....I couldn't take anymore. I need those sites up and running as they generate a modest income. I had a strok last year, I was about to have ANOTHER!!!!
I took another deep breath and cancelled EVERYTHING related to these two sites, bulldozed it all. I created accounts in my Surpass Reseller and UPLOADED the files ONE LAST TIME, determined to get it going. As of right now, one site is up ( Site 2). Site 1 if I type in the URL now has a "site cannot be found on this server" message which usually means the domain hasn't propagated yet. At least its more hopeful than that annoying "Index of...." Page!

So can someone answer these two questions.................
WHAT IS THAT "Index of..."page and why was it showing? AND WHAT could cause the two sites to have the wrong files time after time. God, I had to have uploaded the correct files to each account 4-5 times! . BELIEVE ME I checked them VERY WELL each time. If I didn't know better, I'd swear I was nuts!

You know of course, I will be moving ALL of my stuff from that host starting laater on today, not October....I can't ever have another day like today. [/b]
