I'm in the same boat as you, I don't get a lot of domain registrations so I don't want to deposit $xxx's when it might take a year or two to use it up.

Our registrar accounts are a flat $99- a year, there is no deposit, you decide the prices (above trade) and it is up to you whether you allow customers to register, buy and do the work or if you want to do it all yourself, it also has all the billing done so all you receive is the profit.
