Backup Destination

Is it to realistic to use this on most VPS accounts? I wasn't sure where you would typically put the backup destination. If it has to have double what /home has that would mean you'd cut the amount of disk you can actually use on a VPS by 1/3, e.g. 15G VPS 5G for /home and 10G for /backup. Is this correct? Or is there some mount or drive that comes with a VPS that supports backups?
