[Article] Happy Surfing! The Oohs and Aahs of Internet Browsers
As you already know, (or may not know) there are many different Internet browsers out there to choose from. In the article below I will talk a little about my top 2 favorite browsers and top 2 worst and why I think they are useful or not for everyday use with the internet and more!
The Good
ONE: Mozilla FireFox
Ah, I'm sure you've heard of this one many of times. The major step up from IE? Well, to put it simply, it is. FF is the simple to use and function browser, that when IE6 came out, everyone needed to have.
Why FireFox?
Easy to use and install. Has a large gallery filled with ready-to-install plugins, fantastic looking themes, and better yet, page loading has never been so fast! Quite helpful when creating webpages and using the developer plugins it offers.
The drawback...
If you don't update your plugins constantly, they can cause problems for your browser and connection. Lagging is one of the many consequences.
TWO: Opera
When I was first introduced to this browser, I thought that it was a biting imitation of FireFox, of course I was sadly mistaken. While some of the features are similar, the way you view the internet from both browsers are entirely different!
Why Opera
For the convince of having everything that you need at your fingertips (Speed dial is too cool)! I'm not sure if people have noticed this or not, but the scrolling on Opera is so much quicker then any other browsers I have ever used, major plus for me. Once again, fast page loads! And can't forget about the awesome widgets that you can install in 1-2-3!
And according to a nifty Opera security widget, Opera has 0 security holes, while FF has 4 and IE 8. 0_0
The Drawback...
Their themes aren't all that impressive. (although this obviously isn't a major draw back, just personal preference) When you install a widget, unfortunately it stays open in its own window, which is quite annoying when you already have a few windows open as it is. (If this can be fixed, I'd love to know how?)
The Bad
ONE: Internet Explorer
One of the worst browsers Microsoft/Windows could ever support, hate to admit it but, I was a heavy IE user before going towards the light.
Why Not Internet Explorer?
There are way too many reasons why you shouldn't use IE for anything, but I'll give you just a few to count with. Slow page loads. Virus/Trojan prone. EVERYTHING works with it, which ISN'T a plus, but a bad thing. Actually that's a lie, most CSS codes don't work with it. And the list goes on.
On the Brightside?
It was probably your first ever browser, enough said.
TWO: Safari
Why oh why was this browser ever created? Apple, I love you, I really do, but Safari? That was your worst mistake. While not having IE as a default browser for your Mac computer may be handy, having Safari as a default isn't anymore pleasant.
First thing I recommend to all people, do not download Safari for your PC computer, unless it is STRICTLY for compatibility purposes, which then you may do so, but at your own risk and heart ache. Safari was never meant for a PC but only a Mac computer, it looks and functions horribly on a PC. Not that on a Mac it does much better, but it gets the job done with a little bit more appeal.
Why Not Safari?
Just looking at it, makes me bored of the Internet before I even go to the first page. No major features that can help me have a better experience of the Internet. XHTML Strict is a must! (ok this isn't true, just for laughs) If you have more then two or three windows open it crashes. Even on certain sites, that you'd probably see perfectly fine with FF, Opera, or even IE, will make it crash. Basically meaning...Safari IS NOT stable at all!
The Brightside?
Helps you validate your coding correctly! What a plus, huh?!
Happy surfing!
