Hi Roxy,

Thanks for that.

I've been corresponding with GoDaddy yesterday and today and I'll be honest in saying I'm not that impressed at the moment with them.

My first question to them was about how billing is managed and how I paid my yearly fee, lets assume I used their api and implemented it in a site. User comes along orders domain and pays me. The order goes to GoDaddy, how do they charge me in $'s, £'s or EURO's.

They replied:

1.) If your customers opt in to charge at the current GBP or EURO, you would also be billed via that currency.
This makes no sense to me, I asked how they would bill me including their yearly fee. I need to know because this means the fee's they charge me would fluctuate with the currency exchange.

I then asked about tax, would they charge me VAT (The UK tax) or an American tax.

They replied:

Quote:
You will need to complete the appropriate IRS form (W-8BEN or W-8ECI). For additional information , please contact yout tax advisor.
Isn't IRS an American thing or am I missing something?

I did explain I reside in the UK and asked if it would be VAT or something else.

I then replied with "I'm a UK citizen meaning in my country we have VAT. Would this be
applicable with you guys or do I pay a different IVA, VAT, tax."

And their replied:

Quote:
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide advice on Taxation for the UK. Please visit your local IRS website or visit a local accounting/tax advisor.
For those not in the UK and not familiar with VAT, this means Value Added Tax. When we buy goods or services we are charged 17.5% VAT, this is added by the company selling the goods or service. I think your equiverlant is IVA at about 5% or something.

When buying things in EUROPE we also pay VAT in the UK. Because this company is American and I'm not ordering goods do I still pay it. If they are charging in £'s and operate in Europe does that mean I have VAT to pay them. They may have an office in Europe, I don't know.

These are not questions I'm asking you, but answers I'm trying to get from them as I assumed they would deal with various British companies. Saying that if anyone in the UK is here and has experience and advice that would be cool also.

Thanks for listening, I'll go back to my corner now :-)
