Our whole family loves our Wii, in fact my wife who never likes to play video games likes to Bowl on the Wii.

If you like racing games, my first and still favorite game was Need For Speed Carbon. Because it's one of the first titles out for it, I frequently see it for sale around $39.99 now. If you like the roll playing type game with mystery, Zelda is cool as well.

I own:

Super Paper Mario
Need for Speed Carbon
Wii Sports
Wii Play
Zelda
Excite Truck.

As twirp mentioned, it also has a very good browser, of which Flash works in it for watching YouTube on your TV. All of which is free.

I am definitely a playstation girl, but I can't justify the costs of a PS3 while I don't have a job. And there's only 2-3 games currently released on the PS3 worth buying (IMO). At the same time though, I follow a number of Nintendo games... like Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. And of course Mario Kart, the regular Mario games, and Mario Party. Most of which haven't been released on Wii yet either though...

I want to play Harry Potter on the Wii, because it's getting rave reviews that it's finally a Harry Potter game worth playing cause you can finally really play the game with a wand and so on.

Today though, I think I'm feeling quite lazy and won't be leaving my house. It's a rainy day so instead I'm going to sit inside and read. I might go tomorrow though...

I knew someone would be helpful here and point that out... I've had many people tell me so since I'm making the same comments on about 3 different internet scenes... meanwhile I already knew, which is why I said that "most" of them haven't been released. Oh well, guess I can't fault you for being helpful. lol

I might go tomorrow to get it. It hasn't been decided yet.

One of the "may be" votes, but if you must, go for it.

I have never owned a console or the like, games I play (when playing) are done on PC.

Well I could choose to not be helpful at all, but that's not me. Also, another factor you might want to consider, will you be playing the Wii by yourself, or with others. The Wii is really a great party machine, it's most enjoyable when playing with more than one person.
