The longest night ever.
Okay,
So last night was one of the most terrible nights ever. The hellish events started pretty close to midnight when my uncle (my aunt and uncle live across the street) called us up and said that my cousin, who's 12, was coming to spend the night because my uncle was taking my aunt to the ER. She'd been really sick all week and it just kept getting worse but she refused to go to the hospital because they don't have health insurance/hospitalization and they don't have a lot of money. Anyways, Jon comes over, not even five minutes after he gets here my uncle calls back telling my parents to get over there he needs help. Well, my mom walks in and finds her younger sister (my aunt just turned 50) in a chair slouched over with blood just running out of her mouth and nose. My mom feels for a pulse, there is none. Her and my dad go to pull her out of the chair and my aunt has already voided. My dad starts the 911 call, my mom calls me and tells me to wake up my twin sister (who's trained in CPR) and tell her to get over there. At this point, I'm in belief she's already dead. I was in IRC last night and H and Removed were there when this all happened and I had said she'd passed and then left 'cause my cousin was still here. Well, my sister and my mom are together giving CPR, my mom is doing the mouth to mouth and my sister the chest compressions. Every time my sister pushed on my aunts chest, more dried blood mixed with new blood just kept pumping out my mom had to turn my aunts head so the blood would drain. They weren't even sure how much oxygen she was getting. Paramedics get there, do their thing. Were ready to pronounce her dead on scene... until the most faint heart beat started. There was a very small heart beat but she couldn't breathe on her own. At this point my mom calls me and tells me to bring over clothes for her because she is still in her PJ's and she's going to the hospital. I tell you, I hope and I pray I NEVER have to see what I saw again. It was like something that was supposed to only be in movies. They are preping my aunt to be put on the gurney thingy, there is this machine they used to suck out some fluids in chest, her mouth and nose had blood dripping, her eyes, oh my god, her eyes were yellow, staring straight and were also excreting blood. Fast forward to the hospital. She gets to the hospital with no blood pressure, they rush her into surgery for exploratory surgery. She's had a bleeding ulcer that has blad for a week straight. She was so bloated with blood, she looked like she was 9 months pregnant again. They fixed her up inside, however, she did die... she was givin CPR but with the fluids in her chest not much oxygen made it to her brain. Currently, she has tubes all in her. Her side, in her chest, through her nose draining fluids, two in her mouth. She went from trying to breathe on her own this morning when they turned off the resperator to not even struggling right now. The doctor's see no sign of brain activity, they have listed her in a comatose state until the neurologist comes in to see her tomorrow which we are assuming he'll change that to a vegetative state. My uncle is coming over in a bit to tell Jon what's going on. He still has such high hopes that she is going to be fine and she just needs to sleep. It's so disheartening to think that in a few minutes the rug is going to be pulled out from under him and his whole life is going to turn upside down and change forever. In a few I'm going to the hospital to see her one last time. My uncle isn't allowing Jon to see her. He doesn't want him to have that as his last image of her. It's almost 4:30est. And I still haven't slept. This is THEE worst night ever.

I am so sorry to hear that.
I've never heard of anyone who died from a bleeding ulcer, but I've had close calls. I hope everyone manages to cope with the loss. May her rest in peace.

Thanks H. You've been such a big help through this. and you too Paul. I've only really had to deal with the death of one of my family members before and that was my grandmother, but she'd had cancer, we knew she was going. SHE knew she was going. This was sudden. Took 5 days. Sometimes I wonder to myself if she knew she wasn't going to make it last night.
But, atleast for her sons sake, she mustered up enough energy to slur "i love you" to him before he walked across the street to my house. tears.. gotta stop. Thanks everyone.

Keleigh,
When I read your post tears came to my eyes - I hate that you had to see all of this. It makes you realize how short life is and how we have to cherish everyday. I hope that you feel better soon... time heals. Maybe not as fast as we like.. and not completely, but it will get better.
