I've about had it up to my ears with living in an apartment.

I got somewhat noisy neighbors and you can hear every footstep they make, every picture they hang, almost every conversation they have, etc.

I've been hearing them hammer all freaking day and it's driving me nuts.

I think I'm gonna work on getting my own house again so I can make as much noise as I want and won't hear neighbors making noise right around me.

Guess they use little to no sound proofing in the walls. I don't know why places don't use more sound-proofing... I would think it would increase tenant retention. Granted, someone hammering nails into a stud in the wall might be tough to reduce, but general conversations and other noise shouldn't be a problem.

Lot of places probably don't even have insulation on interior walls.

A big LCD TV with a massive surround sound system would take care of any noise in your apartment coming from your neighbors, of course then the neighbors would complain.

in the past 2 months I have reported on my neighbor above and next to me like 7 or 8 times. What I do now is just don't worry if I'm too loud... I just turn up my tiny little bose system and let the bass kick really hard when i'm playing COD4 or GTA IV... or I just let the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan play through.

Or... I play the guitar (which I don't know how to play) really loud through an amp and have make the apartment shake in the middle of the night.

After I do any of the above they are usually respectful for about a week... but they need constant discipline because they always fall back to their old ways.
