Cake Icing/Frosting...

Hmmm...
It's a rainy day here and I'm stuck inside, and the only food I can seem to find is an abundance of cake mix.
The only problem is that the newest cake frosting I can find expired March 15 2008...
I was wondering if anyone would happen to know if it's safe to eat or not...
All the other ones expired in May of 2007 >.<
Gotta love my mom and her lack of updating non-fridge areas

i just like the title of this thread. cuz i thought of icing and white cake with little colored dots inside... what kind of cake is that.

the "date" on the can is the "sell by" date.
That icing, in that can, should be good for several YEARS.

it's 90% sugar - a solution that high is too high to support bacterial growth -- or anything else for that matter...

Well... I tasted it and it tasted bad. I'm guessing the regular frosting would have been okay, but these were the fudge ones or cream cheese and some other flavors.

So instead I made some angel food cake and melted some white chocolate to put on top. Then I mixed strawberries and bananas in a strawberry flavored gel thing and put it inside the angel food cake.

My new keyboard stinks... It doesn't pick up all the keys I type...

Get the angel food out of the keyboard and it will type better!

Ahh, well, you didn't say "cream cheese" flavord. Those are typically TART anyway, but I'd use those within 3 months of the date on the can.
