It's always something!
Why can't I ever just have a normal ride home from work.
Tonight on the way home from work I was driving down Orange Blossom Trail (50 mph, 3 lanes on each side) and pulled up to a red light with a police car already there. So the light turns green and we all drive off and he was going slower so I go 50mph and get passed him. He eventually changes into my lane and we drive on, not really paying attention to anything because I wasn't doing anything wrong. I eventually change into the third lane and he's pretty far behind me. All of a sudden he speeds up in my lane then goes into the middle lane and gets right next to me. Next thing I know I have his spot light shining in my window. So I'm not sure exactly how to respond (besides wishing I had Removed's spotlight to shine back). So I just immediately start slowing down, kind of looking for some place to pull over in the middle of this 50mph road. Instead he slows down too so our windows are next to each other so I roll mine down to see what he wants (thinking he's gonna yell at me for something) and he looks at me for a minute (we're going about 10mph at this point) and then asks the big question.... Does your brother work at Target? ... Yeah.. that's what he wanted to know.. if I was related to the person with my same last name that works security at the Target near my house, I guess he's stopped by there when my brother has caught people stealing and they know each other. I told him yes and he asked what he was doing now (we're still going like 5mph on this road) and I tell him I'm not sure and he said OK and drives off. What a night.

You didn't know about this trick? You can easily flush out criminals by asking whether or not their brother works at Target.

I work security at Target, and we have a pretty good relationship with local law enforcement officers. That however, seems a little weird. Maybe they're buddies?
There is a chance he ran your plate (maybe out of sheer boredom?) and saw the name, recognized it and decided to ask. Do you have a fairly unique last name? Some cops are just weird like that. I know quite a few and most are pretty cool guys, but some are asshats too. |
