Controversy
You know what I hate? People who don't like controversy.
You know, when a debate happens on a forum, and people just stop thinking altogether and start screaming "LALALALALANO NO NO WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG??" I recently joined a MAC vs PC thread on a random internet forum (which I will not name here). Most of the people there were Mac fanboys, and I argued in favor of the PC (naturally). After arguing point-counter point, they all just stopped responding in kind, and resorted to condescending remarks instead of arguing on the merits of their "superior" brand. Finally, I received a warning from a moderator that I'd be banned. So of course I left. Pointless really. But this reminds me something that these people tend to forget: You should embrace different viewpoints. Muscling out alternate views is a great way to kill debate and discussion, and just generally kill your userbase. On my own site, in my forum, just about nobody agrees with me during debates, but I embrace that, and encourage it. Things wouldn't get interesting if everybody agreed with me. |

I think the fact that people realize their in a controversy of Mac vs PC is enough for them to realize they it's gotten pathetic and it needs to stop. Controversy is fine, but it should at least be on a topic worth having a controversy about (eg: like how lacrosse is soooo much better than baseball (or vice versa (hah! (hey look, multiple layers of parenthesis! (this is totally awesome that I can just make more levels of it)))), which I guess isn't really a contoversy, it's a fact).

I agree.
I like debates... I actually learn a lot from them. So while I started on one side... I may actually land on the other...and if not, just appreciate it more. And then sometimes Im just completely wrong and feel like afterwords. lol.[edit] H - Baseball is sooooo better. (I don't have any Lacrosse teams to go watch) [/edit]

Dude.... I'm posting this from my MacBookPro... so dont bring your stinkin windows tripe here... Steve Jobs not only invented the wheel, sliced bread and the Mac, he packaged them exquisitely.
(figured it was a good time to start some controversy)

You suppose Jobs said something like this to him " So do you want to design toy scooters for the rest of your life?"
