Do you think the "real world" isn't advanced enough?
Sometimes when I am at home on my laptop enjoying wireless Internet, it boggles my mind that I am actually on the Internet, in the middle of the room, connected to not one little cable.
I mean, really. It's even oddly terrifying. With this kind of stuff being possible, you'd think we would all be riding around in flying cars by now, right? ![]() It seems like we have such crazy technology now from computers to phones and it's all rapidly growing. But what about everything else? I take a look over at my laughing pig icon and it's such a simple animation, just two frames. This is old school. You'd think we would already be at the point where our avatars are direct feeds from webcams in our computer or something crazy like that. When do we get to be crazy? What are all of the things limiting our craziness? I am sure one of them is money. What else? |

If you'd take note, all of the technology we have today is all technology we had available to us since the 50's. Any advancements made are just things that we've built upon. The wireless networks are no different than TV, radio, or walkie talkies. It's just digital information being sent on a radio frequency. We're constantly putting up cell phone towers, making the range of places that have no internet and cell phone access, smaller and smaller. The iPhone and iPod are not really that innovative. The only reason that we don't have 100 gig flash drives is because we don't want a flash drive as big as the iPod.
Creating technology vs fighting gravity is also a greatly different thing to do. Enabling everyone to be able to just fly would bring many problems. The government wouldn't be too savy with everyone being able to fly internationally in an affordable way. The only reason that we're all allowed to boat as we please, is because they couldn't argue it very easily. We were all boating before we had cars. Flying also isn't safe. A lot of people would be prone to crashes, because face it, most Americans can't navigate to save their lives, I'm one of them. All the tools that you'd have to learn about, just to fly, would be a bit much. We're not living on mars or the moon, because people are just flat out stupid. We can do it, the government just doesn't want to risk losing their citizens. They're probably worried that a moon or mars colony would renounce ties to the US, or something. I know I would endorse it, with the way the politicians are all shady. Lawl, there are plenty of reasons, but yeah, the biggest reason would be, we're not smart enough. We're seriously only building upon what we already have. There aren't many smart people making "new" things. |
