It's an update script for phpdvdprofiler, a way of putting my collection of DVD's online. Got some new DVD's and wanted to update the files. Maybe it's time to get another way of doing so.

Is it a lot of files that are being updated at one time? Maybe it's timing out while updating?

It's possible. I'm not sure how many there are.

Number of Profiles changed: 119

I guess I need to look further, as this not the place, I guess.

Assuming you are under V5 - one obvious help point is
MySQL :: MySQL 5.0 Reference Manual :: B.1.2.9 MySQL server has gone away

There are reports of this problem under linux variants pointing toward an Apache link as re-starting MySql does not provide a cure but re-start Apache does (till it occurs again.)

Also of course the packet/query could be too large / MySql needs a MySql Ping to hold a longer connection.
