When you're ego is already so small that you need any boost you can get, sometimes you've got to start small. Later, he'll move up to things that can move, such as:

-Babies
-Small puppies
-Kittens
-The elderly

By then he should feel good enough to really get into real life things like beating up third graders for lunch money.

I'm not saying that I need to do those things for an ego boost. I, personally, already have an oversized ego.
