iPod touch—not lies—sets kid's pants on fire; parents sue
One kid from Cincinnati won't be able to listen to that one again after allegedly having an iPod touch actually set his pants on fire, resulting in melted underwear and second degree burns on his leg.

I think they're asking for too much money... Looking for a profit off of the kids mishap. I've had electronics explode on me before, but then again, my underwear isn't designed to melt and cause harsher burns. Shouldn't they be suing the underwear company as well for not warning that it does melt under heat causing increased burns? |

This is sad and pathetic. I would definately wonder what the kids mental faculty's were before the incident if this caused him mental trauma that will last the rest of his life. I've seen a lot worse, had a lot worse on my body and clothes, and I am perfectly fine.....
People these days will sue for anything. I could see sueing for dr. bills and a little pain, like a couple k. But, not a total of 150k dollars. I wonder if a qualified mental practitioner has been consulted. If I was apple, I would get one... Although, to apple, 150k is nothing, and is probably cheaper than it would cost them to fight. They'll probably settle for under 75k. |

But that's exactly why people sue. Companies could easily settle to get them to shut up than to deal with it otherwise.
I find it comical. Ever since I heard about the whole "hot coffee Mcdonald's case" I really don't care what people sue for. While they're at it they should sue the people who made the kids clothes too. Life is fun.

In the iPod case, I can understand asking for some money, like to cover the costs of clothes, medical bills and the iPod, but not anything over $100,000. How old is the kid that he'll be mentally scarred forever? EGahd! He'll never look at an iPod the same way again, just like how I'll never eat at a Wendy's again due to food poisoning... |
