Scams getting more clever

Today a spam bot friended me on twitter (as per usual)... before blocking it, I decided to see what scam it was pushing today. Turns out it was advertising a Foreign Exchange trading program that was supposed to double or triple your money by automating the trading process, with a program called fapturbo.

Now, LOLs about the name aside (lol fap..turbo??), I decided to investigate just how scammy it was. Usually a quick google search on the topic will uncover the truth, and you'll find a quick blog post or article outlining the scam-of-the moment, and you can move on with your life.

Well this scam was the most impressive I've seen so far. Many pages of google results with different forum posts, blog posts, articles, ezines, all with "objective" reviews of this bot. The real scoop! - but of course each is favorable to fabturbo, and each reads more like an advertisement, so they're not to be trusted.

But what was most interesting about this scam, was that they understood how the internet works...

There is no way to censor information on the internet. It takes just one guy to point out the scam, and their cover's blown.. So instead, these guys spread a wide load of misinformation, to obscure the truth. Works well. Makes it look like the few dissenters are similar to the few angry people who show up for any product good or bad.

Anyway, looks like a scam, so avoid it. Just thought it was interesting.
