i see yabbse is being installed there. however ... i do believe yabbse is now defunct. it is available still but the programming community converted and are now exerting their efforts to simplemachines.org

Is there a gallery software package that allows you to build a website around it? I mean, that has the tools and templates etc so that I can have some text pages, menus, etc. that are consistent through the site?

You could use 4image, and just use frames to include it within your pages, such as
NEWS | GALLERY | LOGOUT Gallery would just show up as a regular page. Some food for thought.

simplemachines.org is a messageboard. however what i use is enigma at lunabyte.com it is a portal that right now uses yabbse for its forum . and there is a coppermine mod for making a photogallery. actually ... i have two sites with the enigma portal one that uses a perl photo album and one that uses the coppermine integration mod. the reason for the perl album and i had to cheat on the header for it to integrate it was my old server didnt support gd1 gd2 or imagemagik... a prerequisite for coppermine the perl script that i integrated into enigma was here http://perl.bobbitt.ca/album/ the mod for the Coppermine photoalbum integration for enigma .. can be found at this thread. http://www.lunabyte.com/index.php?bo...;threadid=1455 it sure looks nice having all those scripts to install and such ... but i guess most should rather than look at surpass for support do some research ... find the communities that support each and take some time to find whats best for them. if i think of all the hours ... i have spent in the past learning mysql, installing phpmyadmin... converting bbss from yabb.pl to yabb to enigma.. trying i dont know how many portals and boards... i wish i had known about surpass a long time ago. however .. i do know tht the best resources for any of those scripts are at their source.

i think if you look at most messageboards,portals and cms there will be mods made as an addon for either coppermine or 4 images.. if they dont someone is probably working on them now.
it seems to me that i looked at a coppermine/phpbb bridge several months ago but it was still being written.. im sure it has been released by now..

messageboard is one thing that the wife does NOT really want at this time, and I know that I can always hook up a subdomain 'forums' and have an install of phpbb or something...
I just want a gallery that I can easily wrap into a <div>... If I modify her site I would have most of the content as php include pages...dropping them into the content div. So something that I can work with that way would be best. I'll have a look at that perl gallery later! Thanks.
