Well, I almost hate to bring this post back to life, but I feel the need to see if anyone has any ideas.
Good ole CIHost screwed my friend again, she just called. After fighting this for months... originally she just wanted a refund for unused time... never happened. Then she went to her bank BofA and tried to get help. Well, CIHost still claims that she never cancelled her account... and guess what... they billed her for another year! She contacted the bank and they said there was no billing error. All of the info that CIHost provided them was correct. She's like... of course it's correct... but I cancelled the account. So what now???? She hasn't been on CIHost since March and is now apparently paying for another year!!! She doesn't even have access to the account because it is closed. Her username and password don't even work.... But yet they billed for another year!!! How can they get away with this!! She called CIHost again.... I don't even want to guess how many calls that makes and they told her she has never filled out the online cancellation form. She apparently has copies of the 4 times she has done that. Any advice??? |

After a person contacts a company, saying they have cancelled their account and whether there is record of it or not, the company should cancel it. Hate to say it but - DUH.
And surely shouldn't bill the person again. Insane. All I can say. In this situation, there is probably nothing else you can do but take *legal action* With all the email and phone support in the world, you can see what can happen anyway with a company. It would cost more in legal fees to get something done about this than what is actually owed. I am stumped and sorry that it happened. |

I feel like starting a down with CIHost website on her behalf. I could get it into the top10 cihost searches in Yahoo in no time!
They could try to sue me, but I do have that whole First Amendment thing in my favor... :brief: http://fact.trib.com/ What would be really cool is to run the site off the account she has been forced to pay another year for. Maybe that would get their attention and they would cancel the account once and for all! :grrr: |

She needs to provide copies (dated) of the emails that she sent to CIHOST to cancel, or automatic confirmations returned from CIHost when she canceled to her bank and dispute the charge. If she has those, the bank should side with her and reverse the charge to CIhost.
John PS - tell her to change banks immediately if they dont, and she can also contact the federal reserve bank if this was drawn from a checking account - and lodge a complaint against the bank. John

Bigjohn, well I feel silly now. I didn't think about all of the sneaky bank doings.
Just goes to show we don't have any experience with such nonsense. :whome: |

Ahh, I've been involved in finance before, and I'm very familiar with chargeback rules too. There are things that they can and cannot do, and CIhost seems to have violated quite a few rules.
John PS - so, Kayla comes back and TEQ is in the closet? Multiple personalities, eh? :ktoe:

I don't see how CI Host is still going really. I think most people are well aware of what goes on there, and it all really stumps me.
Teq teq teq... I was just tired of it. ![]() |
