Your opinion
I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, if it's not then I guess a mod will just delete it.
Well anyway, I've been working on a site layout for the past week or so. It's my first attempt at a more modern look, so I'm a little iffy about how it turned out. I would like your opinions on it. ![]() The site is... http://www.emucation.com I want your honest opinions but also don't be to harsh. I'm only 18 :hrrm: And if anyone cares here is what I've used to make the site. Photoshop 6 for the graphics. TSW Webcoder 4 for all of the coding. |

It's pretty cool - the modern theme suits a game-related site rather well. It's nice and clean and I don't see anything wrong with it.
![]() But if this was a professional site, that'd be a different story. Age would be no excuse. I'm only 15. :P

I like it a lot, actually.
The text on the navigation buttons is a little hard to read, but it's more the 'ultra-modern font' more than the white, I think. Other than that, cool -- I'm also happy with how I'm on a dialup and the graphics loaded really fast. Bonus points.I might have to check this site out... X3

Pretty cool design. The theme and branding are consistent and work well for the site. If I had two criticisms it would be:
1.) you might want to style some of your content boxes differently than the big containing frame. It's hard to distinguish a section of content that's supposedly "important" when its heading is the exact same color/style as the box that contains all of the not-as-important text. 2.) it seems like the page relies a whole lot graphics, which I usually try to stray from. Depending on your audience it may be acceptible, but I'd be prone to try to get some rendered effects in there via CSS more than the images. At the very least slice up and get rid of the image maps, those are horribly inefficient and freeze up the browser until its downloaded. Also a catch to relying on images so much is that maintenance requires opening up photoshop and plugging away, but if you're okay with that then there's not too big of a deal with it.

viewed, not veiwed.
That's it for me, all I could find. It's down at the bottom, under the copyright, you have that the site is best viewed at 1024x768. Other than the minor transposing of letters, it's great. It does seem a little heavy on the graphics, which I too try to stay away from since it tends to wreak havoc on dial-up modems, but that's generally personal preferance. Nice site, nice layout, interesting designs. Keep it up. This post brought to you by the number D and the letter 4. - Dale?
