Cool Drawing Tablet

Hi,

I am looking to buy a drawing tablet, does anyone know of a good one which is reasonably priced and is of a very good quality?

Thanks,
Isfahan.

Price and quality are hard to determine. Depends on how much you want to spend and what you plan on doing with it.

i hang around cg artists all the time, and from what they tell me, wacom is #1

aiptek is a popular brand also, but batteries in the pen make it heavier (so unless you like using heavy pens in regular writing/drawing, stay away)

the cheapest way to get a tablet is to find a used/refurbished one. they go for about 10-20USD less than the new ones and SHOULD come with a warranty

price of tablet depends on size, pressure sensitivity, and features. the larger the active surface area, the more expensive. also, some tablets come with mice, extra tool buttons, extra stylus, etc.

an aspiring amateur artist really won't need more than 256 levels of pressure, most tablets come with 512 anyway.

for a 4x5, wacom sells a cheap but quality one, new for $100 used is generally about $80-90

6x8 go for about 200-300USD, depending on the features

you probably won't find a tablet for under $80 unless it's broken or faulty

WACOM!!!! I love mine. Well I did, that is, until it fell six stories down a stair well. Surprisingly enough, I got $35.00 USD out of the broken mess of wires and the stylus snapped in half.

Anyway, they're great. After them, I have no recomendation. You're gonna want at least a 6X8 really, smaller is kind of annoying. You definately want the 256 pressure levels. I onve had one that was something like 128 and hated it's limitations. Get one with a lot of features as well (lots of buttons, programmable buttons).
