okay well im really big into livejournal icons and since photobucket is retarded and people are stealing my bandwidth there i decided to use my awesome webspace. HOWEVER i don't want them stealing my bandwidth here. i have them set up in a subdomain (x.poetic-genius.org) and i did this through my Cpanel. however, it's messing up some of my other domains hosted on my space and i was wondering, since you can do different 404 pages on each subdomain, can you do hotlink protection on just this subdomain? and if so.. how do i learn how to do that.. i'm kinda new at .htaccess

Try moving the .htaccess in your root folder to the x folder. Or just copy and paste the source of the .htaccess and make a new one in /x/ then turn off hotlink protection It should work.
