SEO : www or no www?
Part 1: Right now in a Google search my site comes up as just kaylafleming.com and just about alll the other sites have www in front. Not entirely sure how this happened.
Part 2: Most of my backlinks come as www.kaylafleming.com Part 3: I can force in htaccess for my site to load with www or without. But I'm wondering WHICH I should choose. This is life or death... ![]()

I saw something somewhere saying that no www was better because of what it means or something.
Really I think it's just preference. I redirect all non www traffic to the www version on my blog because that's what I prefer edit: oh and you're back at number 2 in Google for kayla!

Yes I too read that www is technically a subdomain like any other but unneeded.. so if I know that fact, and force no www, that means I'm obviously a total geek and Google should see me as important.
HA!

I'd prefer it without the www since it's just shorter to type & more pretty.
I'm not even sure if my site shows the www because the main domain just redirects to a subdomain at the moment.

i wouldn't force this change in htaccess... instead you can modify how google lists your domain by going to http://google.com/webmasters/tools ... from there you can add your URL and verify your site.
Google's Webmaster Tools are very useful for many other things as well... Small Screencast Here: http://screencast.com/t/nrk35rdf8lv

I think for Web 2.0, I should make a wwwwww.markheadrick.com subdomain.
Guess I'm just used to the www. Most of the links in the search engines have www in them.
