Vista VPN problems

Hi

I´m at work right now, and one of my co-workers has a problem when logging in from home on our VPN network.

She is using Vista and for over a year everything worked fine, but then all of a sudden, all VPN accounts stopped working, so our external advisors did something to our router. Since that time she can't login remotely anymore. Now the story is that our router (Cisco2600) isn't compatible with VISTA. I find that strange, since it has worked.

The advisors say that they can't find it anymore, and told us to get a new router. If it has to be so, we don't really mind, but I find it strange that it has worked before.

That is very strange, I highly doubt it's a problem with vista not being compatible.

So do i. It has worked for more then a year. A few weeks ago our complete VPN network was down, and since then the problem exists. I wish I was more knowledgeable in this area.

There is an offer for a new router, about 1,000 euro, and I know the router in use now has been discontinued, but since it had worked, we don't really want to replace it.

I don't suppose you guys have a spare router laying around you can hook up for testing purposes?

I know here at work we have several extra routers sitting around in case one fails or some problem comes up.

Nope, unfortunately not. At around €1000 each I don't have a spare one here.

By going through Google I find that there are indeed problems with Vista and VPN. Seems that Vista isn't supporting some authentication (CHAPv1) anymore. Need to check if the router has been downgraded lately.

That is very interesting information. I wouldn't of expected that.
