Thank you all for the information about joomla and pemissions.

I'm not on a server with PHPsuexec yet. But needed to know about it.

Cheers,

Ricardo

I am running my smf and joomla and mambo sites with 777 modes on dir's and they are working fine thus far... I have not seen any problems... with my settings so far and PHPsuexec is on pass49 and its working... so dont know....

no one mentioned the Postgresql Databases available... is that also in the listing of status lights... not that I remember what page thats on...

never saw an announcement for that.

I'm getting this when I "run" the whoami.php file:
Quote:
php is running as user: nobody
. I don't know, if I got all wrong, but if I have 777 mod on folders, and files for writing to them, I now with phpsuexec enabled would get an 500 (internal server error) message?
But all works just like before april 1.

Are there any issues with SMF and PHPsuexec and the many folders it has 777 chmoded to?

I just updated recently my SMF forums from version 1.0.6 to 1.1 rc2 and see many folders chmoded to 777. Would be a pain to try going through changing them all if I were to need on a server with PHPsuexec installed.

And I am considering a upgrade soon which could potentially put me on the newer server with PHPsuexec and if that issue of chmoded 777 folders breaks SMF that would be a issue.

And after reading this from the SMF super guru (Unknown) I'm wondering why bother changing anything in SMF anyway? http://www.simplemachines.org/commun...p?topic=2987.0

As I said I'm considering a upgrade and to a reseller for more control over each domain site I have live now. But don't want the pain of trying to chmod a whole bunch of folder for no reason.

So what do the Surpass guru's have to say?

I'm not familiar with the software, but do you know the reason that the folders are chmodded to 0777?
