jfacade that's a really good point and being on OC5 myself I hadn't looked at this properly and noticed all that... it definitely needs looking at.

The only thing is, I'm not sure what the solution is! It will take a bit of thinking out - what do others reckon?

Why make it too difficult

If you actually look at the first post of this thread and then compare the previous specs to the OC5... You can get a feel for where the new OC 5 Specs should be.

Addon domains, just take that to the max for shared, 10, who would really needs more then that, and the new policy clearly states that >10 should be a reseller account.

OC5 used to be 2 gig less then deluxe for storage, why not continue that trend and make the new storage limit for OC5 8 gig.

OC5 Bandwidth was on par with the Pro plan previously, so why not follow that trend, and make the new OC5 bandwidth limit 600 GB.

If we follow the previous OC5 design specs, then the above recommended specs would place OC5 in the same value/performance category it was before.

What do y'all think of that? How 'bout the Admin folks, is that too much to ask?

Increase for some, not for others?

I tried to have my bandwith increased. I submitted a help desk ticket yesterday and was responded to by Jesse C, who was very helpful explaining the process.
He wrote:

Recently we changed the disk space and bandwidth specifications of the reseller plans we offer. Since the prices have not changed on these reseller plans, our clients are entitled to an update to these new specifications by request.

--------

Before we proceed with this update we must make you aware of another change regarding these new specifications.

With each reseller plan ordered we provide a bonus amount of disk space and bandwidth to the primary cPanel account associated with the reseller plan. The disk space and bandwidth resources assigned to the primary account do not subtract from the amount of disk space and bandwidth assigned to the reseller plan itself. We provide these complimentary resources to the primary account as for the use of promoting the resellers services, however the reseller may choose to do whatever they wish with the primary account.

Before May 10, 2006, the amount of disk space provided to this primary account matched that of the reseller resource disk space. After May 10, 2006 this has changed. With the new reseller plans, all primary accounts are given only 5 GB of disk space, and 10 GB of bandwidth.

If this amount of disk space and/or bandwidth is not enough for your primary account, we can optionally place the primary account under the ownership of your reseller resources. Keeping in mind that the complimentary disk space and bandwidth is only a bonus and not an included part of your reseller plan.

Let us know if you would like to continue with this upgrade.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Have a great day!

Regards,
Jesse

Not being able to respond yesterday, I replied to Jesse's e-mail this morning and received an e-mail from Greg who said....

Looking at your account I see you are on our Surpass Reseller Account. We do not have any bandwidth increases for this plan since we no longer offer that plan. If you would like to upgrade your account, you can upgrade to the bronze plan with 10GB of disk space and 250GB of bandwidth. Let us know if you would like to do so.

I wrote back, asking if this would be a free upgrade and received this reply from Mark who said.....

Hello,

To upgrade to the bronze plan, you would need to pay $15 a month instead of $10. There is no free upgrade.

Is it only the newer Supass Customers who are receiving the upgrade?

How is this fair, and why am I not receiving it?

Hi,

We do not offer the Surpass Reseller plan anymore so there was no way to upgrade it since it's not offered. Anyone on that plan does not receive an upgrade because it's a discontinued plan. Plans that are still being offered were all upgraded.

You are free to keep that plan for as long as you want and continue to renew it. This situation was actually already discussed in a previous post in this thread.

Since the OC5 has been left out of bandwidth increases, is this the start of phasing them out in the long-term?

Is that what's going on? are you guys phazing out these 2 plans? I was really hoping it was just a lag in releasing the new specs....

Have the plans not sold very well?

I hope getting rid of these plans is not in the cards...
