I don't think they are phasing them out. Additional features added to plans doesn't mean something is being phased out, other wise that would mean the dedicateds would be on that road as well.

Yes sorry I was asking whether they were phasing them out as a throwaway question - didn't mean to imply that they were!

But by the logic of increasing the standard plans while not increasing OCs to match prior states (as jfacade mentioned), are they not losing economic value, and thus being "phased out" (perhaps "pushed into a dark corner" would be better terminology here) in favour of the other plans?

This is how I've felt about my OC10 recently, as far as the resource differentations are concerned. I do not compare to the Bronze Reseller here, as the difference is not really worth bickering too much about (USD 11 for 50 GB of bandwidth). Why I do not is because I only host four sites at present, inclusive of my own--the 15/site fee on Shared plans got to me, hence the move to a "valuable" Reseller plan earlier this year; with the advent of 10 addons per site by this upgrade, that problem had been nullified. Since this upgrade, I find that Shared Pro is only USD 6 more than an OC10, while it recieves twice the disk space, and thrice the bandwidth allotment.

While comparing the present Shared plans against the OC10 Reseller (were standard Resellers even affected?) may not be the most fair, I am still a bit vexed about this one, as OC10 feels completely worthless now compared to something that has been lesser (statistically speaking) in the past, even though the pricing has always been as it is now, to my knowledge.

So What is Going on With the OC Hosting Plans?

I've been here reading about the changes to the shared hosting accounts, I am really curious about the OC plans, they at one point appeared to be a good deal, but now I wonder if that is still the case.

Will anyone from admin respond to the suggestions/questions of the other posters?

What is the plan for the OC plans?

Will they be discontinued?

Will they be upgraded like the other shared and reseller plans?

If im interested in getting a plan which way should I go, should I just wait?

Thanks.

I understand the point being made. I mean, I have a dedicated server and yet the Platinum Reseller comes with more bandwith than my whole server, and half the hard drive space. I could get two of them and have the power of the a Dual Core AMD server for a fraction of what it would actually cost me to get the same server as a dedicated. But if I have any complaints, it would be more along the line of what Jamie said previously about the dedicated's seeming to be skipped over during things like this.

while that is a decent point David, I would still choose the dedicated over the shared plans, i like the control that shared just cant offer. besides, a site that uses that 2000 GB is probably gonna be a tad resource intensive, i can just imagine the more problems with shared accounts that are gonna crop up with those that can actually use that bandwidth.

Downgrade?

Will I need to downgrade to get the benefits of a standard plan? or will the OC packages eventually catch up?

That depends though. It does take away some of the "go dedicated" push because the shared plans are basically blasting at them, but yes the control issue is lost on a shared plan. However, not everyone wants all that control. Some just want the space and bandwidth to resell space with. Plus, you can always run your reseller as hosting only low resource intensive sites, and pack tons of them into your plans without causing server problems.

As has been mentioned, no one knows what is going on with the OC plans.
