Hi Everyone,
I wanted to make everyone aware that cPanel Inc. pushed out updates to most branches of cPanel last night (2/27/08) that corrupted the backend copy of PHP used only by cPanel, WHM and third party plugins like Fantastico. This corruption will cause problems with Fantastico and it will refuse to load for users in their cpanel, showing an error instead. Also the WHM Fantastico Admin Area won't work properly either. Solutions: 1) If you are using Stable then you are not likely affected since our understanding is that this "update" did not push to the Stable branch yet. For those of you who don't feel comfortable with the next step (or if for some reason that doesn't work,) then switching to Stable builds for now may do the trick. 2) You can repair the backend copy of PHP. We've noticed that in particular the php.ini file located at /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/etc/php.ini gets changed which is the primary reason people are having problems. Thankfully, it isn't hard to replace that file with a correct version. See the directions here: http://netenberg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1960.0 If just replacing the php.ini file doesn't do the trick, be sure to follow all of the other recommendations as well (like running /scripts/makecphp to rebuild the backend php binaries). If you continue to have problems, please put in a helpdesk ticket. Regards, Aric |
