Bee (72.29.75.111) : Shared

This thread is a timeline for all events occuring to the server Bee.

Each time this server has an issue it will be posted here.

If you cannot access your site, and there is no announcement here, the reason for it is not caused by this server or our network. You must email support[at]surpasshosting.com to find the root of your problem.

Bee is located in Parsippany, New Jersey. It is one of our final servers to move here to Orlando.

We will transfer accounts on Bee to a new server here that is a Dual Xeon, 2 GB RAM. Announcements will be here beforehand.

1. Weekly backups are performed on Sunday.

2. We will MANUALLY update cPanel to STABLE builds only. This will ensure that our custom skin, modifications and installations are retained.

As of today these are the specs:

Bee is currently down due to an apache failure. Rebooting in progress.
------------------------------------------
It took longer than we expected as something else occured, back up now, 12 minutes later. This is why we posted about a reboot, because it took longer than usual. :P

Can you believe... all of this time and no issues on Bee. This is what we mean when we say some servers never have issues.

Hope I'm not jinxing it by saying this.

Currently sites are not accessible on Bee. The load was climbing, we are investigating the website responsible for the slow down of the server and suspending that site. Thank you for your patience.

This afternoon Bee was slow, exactly from 1:59 P.M. EST until 2:35 P.M. EST as we investigated.
The server load was climbing to 4 and 5 and currently right now is 9 (the load should always be 1 or less). The techs are working on the issue and I will give an update soon.
---------------
3:05 There are too many http requests, meaning that like on October 4th, there is an extremely active site that people are going to right now and accessing images on MUCH more than normal, that is using most of the CPU. This server will be upgraded tomorrow afternoon.

Today was the big day for Bee. It's the only server that isn't upgraded like all of the rest. This afternoon it was upgraded and we shouldn't have any more problems due to increased activity of certain sites on the server.
Thank you to everyone for your patience.. now let's get back to having Bee as a quiet thread here on the Server board.

Bee has been nullrouted for a short time, to fix the DOS attack problems against the server. WE are still blocking Ips as fast as we can, and be assured we are doing all we can to get it back up ASAP.

The attacks against Bee have subsided and all IPs responsible were blocked.
This week we will be doing regular maintenance on Bee (good time to since just recovered from problems) but you shouldn't notice anything.
