ASP code

Hello. Not sure if this is where this question belongs, but I was wondering what is a good alternative to ASP code? The server I'm on is Linux based and ASP code doesn't work on it. Thanks for any help.

PHP works really well as a linux alternative, and there's always PERL as well. I prefer PHP, as PERL is too regex-looking for my uses.

You can use databases, xml, file processing, and shell commands with PHP. Hope it treats you well.

Yeah, PHP is the thing you would want to look at. Will 99% sure fit all your needs.
Not too hard to learn too.

Good luck converting.

I think I've been looking at the wrong books then.. or I'm just too dumb

Actually, the basic PHP I've picked up works fine for now... my summer might lead to actually learning the language enough to do something constructive with it.

This useless post is brought to you by the number Q and the letter 8.

Good luck with your own endeavours Felix. There's lots of brilliant people around here that can help if you get stuck.

Thanks everyone! I know some PHP, but not a lot. I had ASP for logins, so I wonder if PHP is ok for that as well. Thanks again.

theres some code floating around in the forum for session based authentication. PHP supports logins.

Apparently I know a thing or two about PHP. I might be able to pass on some random key presses that result in working code.
