IP deny - Page 2

Easier said than done. I tried that. I put in myspace.com in ip deny and it's not working. I went into hot link protection, entered all the extensions such as mpeg, mp3 etc.. not working. THEN someone said to go into my htacesss and enter some stuff. Not working. There has GOT to be a way to stop people from hotlinking.

Too bad they don't have reverse hotlinking, where you say which sites you DON'T want to have access, rather than sites you want to have access. Unless that's the ip deny manager, which doesn't seem to work as well as hotlink protection it seems.

The ip deny manager really sucks actually.

I've tried denying Xanga because way too many users are hotlinking my stuff, but it only seems to work in some places, while other users seem to be able to hotlink fine.

The hotlink protection also doesn't work, as sometimes it still lets people see the images. Or in other cases, some people are unable to see any of the images in the site at all.

Weird. I allow hotlinking from Sidebreak, but when specific sites are using it, I block them. Sites like Fusker, and others that are just trying to harvest pics of the women that host their pics there, and link them out to their site...those get blocked. Plus, I have a rule that you can not host pics for your own site...this includes banner ads. If you have a site, host it yourself. I've only successfully blocked one of the sites via the IP manager.

I have never had a problem with hotlnk its always worked for me same with IP deny maybe i am one of the lucky ones

Before taking the assumption hotlink protection doesn't work for them, you may want to consider they might allow surmunity.com to hotlink.
