I have enabled it in my control panel and it seems to be having issues???
I have never used this version of hotlinking before so am a little confused with it. here is what I need to do. if someone is loged into the forum they should be able to see all images etc etc but anyone linking to for instance http://www.mysite.com/uploads/image.gif from another site they do not see it, this works for the most part but some things just do not work, for instance in my cgi-bin have a stats script that I like to use and the address is http://www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/stats/stats.pl now when I run this script I see no images ata all??? also some members to the forum are having problems seeing images on the forum??? can someone advise on how to setup this hotlinking just in case I am doing it wrong. thanks for the help

keep your pictures outside the forum?
if you are, then the hotlinking is protecting them from the forum users... my advise is to move all your pics to your forum and hotlink protect it! that way, you can see the pics only if your in the forum, that should work with everypage... have a page with a pic you wanna protect = protect the page.. the bad news is that you will have to have a copy of the pic you wanna use in each folder you want to protect.. makes any sense to you? :smartass: |

here's how I have things setup.
I moved my files and database from old host and this is the way it is on the new site at surpass. the forum is not in any dir on my site it is installed directly into the home dir eg my forum is www.mysite.com/index.php not www.mysite.co/forum/index.php and the images folder is www.mysite.com/images this is what I have in hotlink at present Quote:
hope this info helps some

your problem may be that you have http://theunlocker.co.uk and http://theunlocker.unlocker-forums.co.uk. have you allowed hotlinking to the forums one?

theunlocker.co.uk is another site not hosted on surpass but I was thinking of moving it over via subdomain but having more trouble than its worth.
the forums are on surpass and the url is http://www.unlocker-forums.co.uk hence the www.theunlocker.unlocker-forums.co.uk part you listed above is the subdomain im having problems with. when I have hotlinking enabled I have the following set. http://mysite.co.uk http://www.mysite.co.uk I didnt bother with the subdomain as wasnt bothered with it untill I got it sorted, it is only those on the forum??? can I have it so that I can hotlink protect cetertain dir on the site instead of the entire site??? the dir I want to protect from outside linking is uploads the others I am fine with. regards

as far as i know, your entire site is protected when you hit enable, and i see no option so change this. however, somewhere in the Support section (dont remember which), some1 had a tutorial for modding your .htaccess files. those allow you to give certain restrictions to whatever dir the file is in, and all its SUBS will be effected unless you add another .htaccess file in the sub that changes the specifications.
so, go look for that post ![]() |
