OK. My turn.

Rights to blocks are granted separately for each group. The predefined groups are Webmasters, Registered Users, and Anonymous Users. You can add other groups if you need them.

The permissions are:

System Admin rights
Module Admin rights
Module Access rights
Block Access rights

In the admin console, go to System Admin -> Groups

This will take you to an "Edit Groups" page.

At the top you will see each defined group with a "Modify" link.

Click on each link, and grant the level of access you want that group to have for each module and block.

Give it a try and reply back if something doesn't click.

John

I see exactly where you mean. And it makes sense. I'm thinking I ought to wait until the additional modules I want are available for use, because some of those are what I want visible to everyone (example, tinyd, weather, news, calendar). I downloaded filezilla and now have to figure out how to install to the xoops folder.

ok, I got filezilla open, and figured out how to navigate around the folders located locally, and found the modules I downloaded that I want to add to xoops. how do I go about putting in details for the remote I need to get to, which I believe is going to be the xoops folder.

in the xoops folder, which looks like it's the root directory of your account since you can get to the xoops site from just your domain (the root would be www or public_html), than you should just go into that folder and see the following folders:

cache
class
cgi-bin (has nothing to do with xoops though)
extras
images
include
kernal
language
modules
templates_c
themes
uploads

Once you locate where all of those folders are at, that is the root of your xoops install.

David told you where the xoops root is (in your case, it sounds like public_html). If the issue is navigating in FileZilla, click on the folders on the right side to enter a directory, and click on the folder at the top with 2 dots next to it to go up a level.

I wasn't sure which issue you were questioning, so since David answered one, I figured that I'd answer the other one.

Hopefully, between the 2 of us, we've got it covered.

John

I remembered what I wanted to ask you last night.
http://www.afterbeing.com/ and http://www.afterbeing.com/hosting/ - These are very the direction I want to go in for part of the site, was this the tinyd module installed on xoops that you were referring to?

Val,

If you liked the weather on my site, I'll have to tell you how to do it later. It's not a xoops module, but it's easy to do. It's a custom block that links to a TinyD page. If that's what you want, I'll fill in the details later, once you have TinyD up and running.

John

Ok, I was able to ftp into my site, and found the folders, and I uploaded 3 modules and a theme for xoops, but I don't see them available anywhere for install.

Actually, that's all html. I did the subfolders like that just because it looked clean and you didn't have to remember if it was a php, html, or htm extension at the end of the page.

An example of TinyD at work, would be something like this: http://www.badmoviereview.com/module...index.php?id=2

or

http://www.lindavester.net/modules/t...index.php?id=2

http://www.lindavester.net/modules/t...index.php?id=6

http://www.lindavester.net/modules/t...index.php?id=1
