So, Mambo and Joomla are still completely seperate? This is not a complete, "Mambo is gone and now called Joomla" thing? Reason I'm asking is since we have a Mambo discussion forum.. not sure if I should rename it to Mambo/Joomla or just Joomla.
I downloaded both and they seem to have the exact same files and file structure. I uploaded the Mambo files, and the install page says Mambo installation.. Then I uploaded the Joomla files, but the install page still says Mambo installation. ![]() |

Basically the developers took a copy of their code, and said "we're outta here". Mambo does still exist, and will most likely continue to exist, as it has corporate backing. Initially, Joomla will be Mambo with the name changed. Sounds like they may have missed a spot or two. ![]() As time goes on, I'm sure the fork will widen. I'm sure there are many who are currently Mambo users that will ultimately switch to Joomla once it's time to upgrade. Others may stay with Mambo. Right now, it's pretty much the same group of users. Personally, I'd say rename the forum to Mambo/Joomla! until such time that the two products are far enough apart that it causes confusion. I suspect that will take a little while. But then again, I'm a Xoops users, so take that into consideration before listening to me. ![]()
