Question SMF install problem

OK, what am I doing wrong here, I have tried every possible combination I can think of.
I am trying to install SMF via the Fantastico wizard into a sub domain of the root.

No matter what I do I get:

The installation can not be completed:

- No valid directory name provided.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

So like, forum.yoursite.com? Install it into a directory, than point the subdomain at the directory.

Fantastico has not impressed me one bit with it's software installation abilities.

You really would be better off with more control to install the SMF yourself. It is very easy.

sorry, mislead you all there
I am trying to install it into a sub-directory

eg

www.yoursite.com/abc/forum

I've tried every combo of path I can think of but it will not install into a sub-directory (abc)
I've tried it with and without the abc directory existing.

i would suggest installing normally actually. it's not as hard as some forums, because it will do all the chmoding for you if you want it to (it has to have ftp info to do it though)

That is a weird problem, I have used SMF for some time and have done what your are talking about without a problem. I think it is something outside SMF that is causing the problem.
