Fantastico doesn't allow you to install into subdomains. You could always install XOOPS into a folder and then direct a subdomain to that folder.

don't care about the version of xoops. I care that fantastico can't install it where I want it.
I know it did once. Has the version of cpanel changed recently? |

You said you did it a while ago, so what is recently to you? It's changed over the past few months a couple times I believe, due to updates and things. Same with Fantastico.
Contact support and they may be able to look into it and see if there is a problem. And as I said, using that version of Xoops is a danger, as it contains known exploits that someone can use to destroy your site. |

A while ago is a few months I guess.
Thanks for the warning on xoops. For the moment I am just tinkering so I am not too worried about security. Will raise a ticket. |

To put it bluntly: WRONG ANSWER I'm speaking from experience here. I had a test site at another host. I had xoops installed, and was loading modules to play with, so I could figure out what I wanted to use for real. Best I can figure is that they got in through a calendar module that was installed, but was not being used. I hadn't bothered to patch it because I had decided against using it. They didn't deface the site in any way. No, instead, they used the account to launch a DOS attack against another datacenter. The first I knew that anything was wrong was when I was locked out of every site I had there. The hosting company was monitoring the whole thing and didn't tell me that something was going on. Instead they watched it all happen and then locked me out, stating that anything that happened in one of my accounts was my responsibility. After 4 days of begging and losing one of my customers, they finally gave me access to all but the compromised account and gave me 24 hours to move all of my sites to a new host. The only good part of this story is that is how I found Surpass. However, it gave me a new sense of awareness about the risks of running code that isn't current on patches, even if I'm not actually using it. Just being installed is enough. Don't take my post the wrong way. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just trying to save you the pain that I went through. ![]() John

Wouldn't happen to have been that calendar mod from the people who made freecontent would it? I remember a while back that it had an exploit that ended up getting a lot of sites screwed up because it was talked about before they were able to fix it.
