Greymatter

I'm sure not a lot of people use Greymatter, as I've seen on most forums. The main reason I use it is because I like how easy it is to customize, but anyways!

Anyone who is good with Greymatter, please help! I didn't have this problem the last time I tried editing my templates, but now I'm getting a '403 Forbidden' page when I try to save my template changes!

Any reason why I would be getting this error? And now can I fix it? :/

There are tons of threads about 403 errors and scripts suddenly not working.

I suspect some global change was made that is impacting them. I wish I had a good answer for you, have you opened a support ticket?

I had the same problem with my Greymatter, and am now having that problem with Coppermine.

Why your scripts stopped working

From Support:

" We have installed apache security module on the
server since we had different kind of attacks lately
to different servers. So we are not in a position to
disable it. We have configured it fine such that all
the scripts that are coded good works fine. "

Naturally, the industry standard scripts we are using are poorly coded. It couldn't possibly be yet another example of Surpass not caring about the business of their resellers.

Umm, they DO care - they're trying to help us not get hacked. I've logged probably 15 attempts per day on several of my better known sites by "script kiddies" trying to "p0wn" my sites...

A Clarification

The uncaring part is that they make serious changes to reseller servers, and don't bother to mention that they are about to, or what they will be, and apparently without TESTING them. The second part is that over the last few weeks there has been a HUGE increase in questions about 403 errors, which for any normal support group would make them question what changes they had made that could be driving those errors.

So when the PHP scripts on my client accounts begin throwing errors, I'm left looking like a moron.

I know that many here act as though Surpass is a religion you've recently converted to, and I've been their customer for over 3 years, and I'm now looking at other options.

The arrogance of that email went right through me, and this is certainly not the first time things have been changed that impacted my business with no word from them.

The complete lack of communication with their resellers is horrifying.

Going back through my Surpass folder, I see an amazing number of times that I've had to ask what changed. It's stunning.
