Joomla 1.08 now released
Joomla 1.08 has been released. There are two versions - one a full download and the other a patch with only changed files. Note that if you are using 3rd party bridging, this patch may break that until the 3rd party developer updates the bridge.
The changelog of fixes can be found here: The download for full or patch can be found here:

Thanks for keeping us up on this. I wonder how long before Fantastico gets updated?
Maybe best to just remove and reinstall manually - is that fairly easy? My site's has some problems now anyway - something I did is preventing others from posting to the site. After much searching, nothing conclusive but a number of possibles. I recreated it on another domain, and it's working there. I thought maybe I would try to upload it to the original site, but I have been having problems downloading backups. Although it works sporadically, I usually get 'you are not authorized to view this page' from all of my domains when I try to download a backup of my Joomla DB, homedirectory, etc. This is a different topic which I've reported to support, but may add to the forum if it doesn't get resolved.

TomK - Updates went well for me - I just Unzipped the patch file on local directory and FTP'ed the files to the server. No muss or fuss. The only issue I have seen is that it breaks the mosCE editor image function. I loaded the joomlafck editor to use until mosCE is fixed (using these editors rather then default editor due to great image handling).
Updated two sites - one with almost stock config and the other with joomlaboard and zoom gallery installed. Both seem to be working fine. I would reccomend reading the forums at joomla.org to see if anyone is reporting issues with any particular 3rd party programs you are using.

Pizzicar, Thanks for the info on the editors - the default one was lacking as you indicated. I did register at the joomla.org forums, and have done some research there trying to determine what I did wrong. Bottom line I just removed 1.0.7 Joomla from the one website and am going to install 1.0.8. I need to learn how to do all of this at some point - guess now is as good a time as any.

I agree - takes too long. Two failed attempts today to remote install version 1.0.8 by FTPing the software, then updating the permissions on the directories to be writeable, etc. First failure - couldn't get past the installation pre-checklist. Blew away the SQL db, reuploaded, created new Db and was able to install. First view of site worked this time - but some images broken. Tried to log in as administrator - wouldn't take id/password. configuration.php was 644, but I couldn't change it - probably not owned by me... gave up.
Guess I'll go back and just install version 1.0.7 via Fantastico and work that way for awhile. I need to have something tonight. I'll worry about the patches later.
