Say I want to have a subdomain:
subdomain.domain.com Theoretically, my subdomain is really located here: domain.com/subdomain/FILES HERE. When creating subdomains, it creates a folder called subdomain. When using fantastico to install scripts, it always asks "where do you want to install this script". I then tell it what I want the folder name to be. Then, it creates the folder, and installs the script. Thing is, if you install the script by creating a folder named subdirectory, you can't go back and configure your server to acknowledge that there is a subdomain by that name b/c it gives you the whole "a folder by that name has already been created" or whatever. You can't create the subdirectory first and then attempt to install the script b/c fantastico requires you to let it create the directory. Why can't fantastico acknowledge that there there is a folder there, ask you if you want to continue, and then just go on with the installation w/out trying to create the folder? Maybe I am way off here or something and I just don't understand how it works or maybe I'm just :crazycrazy: !! What are your thoughts on this? Is there a way around it that I am just not realizing? Am I :crazycrazy: ? (You better not answer that last one)

Answer:
1) Install the script you want to install into a directory named exactly what you want the subdomain name to be. 2) Create subdomain in CPANEL. It will automatically use the directory with the same name if present in your public_html directory (i.e., subdomain.yourdomain.com will automatically point to /home/yourcpanelusername/public_html/subdomain if it is already there.) 3) Enjoy Don't try to do this any other way or it won't work. Delete the subdomain if you need to and recreate it after you do the Fantastico install if needed. Aric |

Aric,
You explained that very nicely, thank you. Tried it, and it worked! I could have swore that I already tried that. Looks like I'm :crazycrazy: after all. Thanks for your answer. It was very helpful.
