WHM question

Is it possible to create a new account in WHM using the subdomain of the main account, but not giving it access to cPanel?

You mean:

something.mainsite.com

without cpanel? If you have subdomains on your main site, just make them with your main sites cpanel instead of whm.

hrm. i was hoping it was possible. so that the subdomains won't have to consume the main site's bandwidth. heh.

Well, I guess you could do it in WHM and then just not give them the cpanel login info haha

i was thinking of the same thing. heh. but i guess that's not really 'possible' if they need to upload/edit/download stuff through ftp.

WHM will track the subdomain bandwidth. Just increase the bandwidth allotment for the domain by the subdomain's requirement.

im actually talking about the main domain. so i dont think i can do that since the main domain has the default space and bandwidth that comes when you buy a reseller (right?). thanks anyway.

ask support to create a A address for the sub.maindomain.com to the reseller shared ip

then create a new account in WHM using sub.maindomain.com

it will work and be seperate from the main domain

you CAN create an account using a subdomain without any problems.

I have it set up so I can offer a basic free hosting package, and with that package they can use their own domain, or they may use a subdomain, this gives them the whole "package" of cpanel, and full control over their site.
