WPMU
Just curious to see if anyone has the MU version of WP installed and running. I've considered using it in a business environment, but wondered if in the shared environment of a reseller account if the subdomain creation part would work...
I've just installed it and am playing around with some of the other options, but haven't done that, yet. Clair |

Oh no not a bunch of geek heads in one place. Hay that sounds like a geek party
I've seen a few queries about Wordpress MU but never see anything positive or negative on how good it works and what not. Wordpress rocks I may go back to using it soon. Well this Fall when I get back to a project idea I have on the drawing board. But if it is setup right and scripted well seems like it would be great.

Hey folks, I just installed MU, and I am wondering if I have to contact support to get them to update my account for vhosts, so that new users have name.domain.com when they register.
I'm on a shared hosting account for now, but if this takes off with popularity, I will have to move to VPS, but thats something I'll consider at later date. Am I correct in that I have to ask someone to update my http.conf with this: <VirtualHost *> DocumentRoot /home/totally/public_html ServerAdmin webmaster mydomain.comServerName mydomain.com ServerAlias *.mydomain.com </VirtualHost> |

WPMU cPanel/WHM
I also found this incredibly helpful post for those of you who are running cPanel/WHM
http://www.blogopreneur.com/2006/11/...nelwhm-server/ This is for those of you who are going to use the sub.domain.com for new user registrations. Essentially, it explains about using wildcards in your httpd.conf (*.domain.com) where (*) is the username. I also should add, hat this is for reseller accounts. I'm on a shared hosting plan myself, so it doesn't help me, but may help someone else. Last edited by Stewdio; November 28th, 2006 at 1:55 PM.. Reason: clarification |
