Question Sub Domain FPT Access

Hi.
I created an addon domain which obviously has a sub domain directory. Automatically the sub domain was created and a login account. Let’s call that account: addondomainmaindomain.net. I’ve also added a password to that login.

When I want ftp access to the sub domain directory and I use my cpanel login and password it connects. But when I use addondomainmaindomain.net as login and its password as password I get:

“An FPT error acured - cannot open remote folder /public_html/subdomain/. Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem.”

So how can I solve this? I made this account for somebody else, so giving my main login isn’t a wise idea.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Markus

Go to your cPanel --> FTP Manager --> FTP Accounts:

Make a FTP account for subdomainusername (the same as the folder created by the subdomain).

The FTP client server field will be either your domain or the server IP number.

The username will be foldermain.domain and the password will be the one given when you made the FTP account.

The user will now have read and write privileges to that folder and all folders below.

What I learnt from your reply is that you don’t have to specify the sub folder, just the IP. So I used only the IP and it worked. It looks as if that folder is public_html because there is nothing upwards. But I tested it and the page displayed when I went to the domain.

Thanks for the reply, all is fine now.

Cheers!
