What Are Addon Domains?

Hi,

I recently registered a new domain name. I want to host it on my current hosting plan, but it is already hosting another domain name. I don't want to forward my new domain name to a folder under the other domain name, because then I won't have any personalized email addresses and authentic URL's on the status bar. My question is...if I use addon domains, will my new domain be hosted with another ftp account and have the correct url's?

Can I also have customized email addresses for both my original and new domain name?

Sorry if I am unclear. I hope you can understand me.

The add on domain name will show correctly in the address bar. You won't see the actual domain name of your account anywhere.
About the FTP, you can set up a new FTP account for just that folder. You will still have to FTP to your main account.

The only thing you can't have is email addresses with the add on domain.

The account has to be "real" in order to perform that function.

OK teq, question, if you can't have email addresses with add-on domains, then how come I have one setup and working perfectly?

How did you set it up? Is the email address addondomain.yourdomain.com?

No, it's email

addondomain.com
I just added the email account like I normally would but selected the addon domain instead of either the main domain or a subdomain.

ok i decided to just scratch my original domain, like not use it anymore.

how do i change everything in my hosting account to work for the new domain...like all url's for cpanel, mail, etc. would be under the new domain
