you have got to be be joking?? I thought I read what you said wrong thats why I asked what you meant by that.

jpeg does not loose any quality when you view them and only looses a small amount when you save and that is because of compression.

as for saving them as a gif??? these are photographs people are saving not some silly little animated gif??? for a photo to be realistic it must be saved in jpeg because gif can only store a mximum of 256 colours where as a jpeg can store over 24million???

not sure about the rest of you but 24 million sounds better than 256, a photo in 256 colours will look like a child drew it with a 6 inch wide brush.

oh and here is a little fact about the compression on a jpeg image.

the reason you can reduce the size of a jpeg image by a great deal and loose only small amount of details is becuase it reduces the amount of blue found in the image.

and do you want to know why they only remove blue from the photo??? its simple becuase blue is the only colour that is not produced in nature.

there is nothing in nature that is blue, and please people no one come out with something stupid like the sky of the sea, they are not blue.

websterworlds.com I cannot believe you typed that???

regards

I've been thinking about this.

if that were true, then most heavily trafficed sites (yahoo, ebay) would lose their images in a matter of days and there would be a huge website .jpg replenishing services industry in place to keep them "looking fresh".

..and I'm not talking about their logos that are obviously .gifs

Hey, a graphic replenishing system...weird idea there!

Yeah, he's right. There is no way that's true. Thanks for that link on jpgs too - good source.

lets just say that you got it mixed with openeing and then saving as this does lower the quality very slightly.

I myself didnt know opening and saving made it loose quality a bit??? but I did know that viewing it didnt.

there you go im not as clever as I thought

no body is as clever as he thinks, that impossible...
people think way to goodly of themselves and, the more you know the more you understand you know very little, and because most of the time I think I know everything that makes me not very bright

its not a case of not being very bright, it just a case of knowing when to say "I know" or "I think".

If you know for a fact about something then its "I know" if you are not 100% certain its "I think"

check back in all my posts and see what people have asked and what I have replied wtih.

A lot have been a case of me knowing what it is but if im not certain its a case of I think.

it simply saves you from being wrong and people picking you up on it, like you for instance in this post, If you had said I think blah blah then I wouldnt be typing this now???

regards
