Hi,
A few days ago I made a subdomain on my website (http://www.unexpectedrealities.com). I wanted to give that subdomain it's own ftp access, so that it would only upload files to that folder, and Cpanel said all I had to do was create a an ftp account with the same. I did that, but everytime I try to connect to ftp.unexpectedrealities.com and then typing in the username and password, it doesn't work. I've tried everything, but it won't work. Was there something else I was supposed to do to get this subdomain ftp account to work?

I've got a subdomain on my site (webcam.thingie.net). I created a ftp account called "webcam" and made it's home dir /webcam (/public_html/webcam or /www/webcam) - this made the root of the ftp account the same directory that the subdomain is in.
.... does that make sense? |

I understand how the it makes the root of the ftp account, but the problem is that for some reason I can't ftp with that account. That's what I was asking, is if there was something wrong.

Also, there is a restriction for FTP login names of 32 characters. Make certain that the full login user
domain.com doesn't exceed this amount.

Thank you, Patrick. That was the problem, it was over 32 characters. It's working now.

Please bear with me - new to all this stuff. I also created a subdomain and an ftp account limited to the subdomain. If I try to access it, I get the following message:

OK, what server are you guys on? B/C I have this same exact problem and I thought maybe it was just something I was doing wrong. But I followed the rules above:
1. Create subdomain 2. Create FTP user with same name as subdomain 3. Make sure path is same as username 4. Verify name is not 32 characters or longer 5. Verify during FTP I use the correct full username (name domain.com), etc.6. Get the stupid 550 error. I am using DWMX to FTP and have more than 10 domains/subdomains that use to FTP with the same program and I don't have these problems. Only when I try to use an FTP user other than my root. Any help you can give would be MUCH appreciated.
