Dreamweaver FTP settings

I don't use Dreamweaver often but when I do sometimes I get an error message when trying to upload. It's never 100% successful like the FTP client I use.

Here's the error message:

And here's the FTP settings I've used:

I toggle the passive FTP on and off (I've settled with on) and IPv6 (I've settled with off) - no luck.

Any ideas?

try making the directory /public_html (don't know if that's going to fix the issue you are seeing).

Are you able to connect with other FTP clients (such as FileZilla)? Can you run a telnet to port 21 to see if your router or ISP is blocking the port?

On Mac: Open up the "Terminal" application found in the Utilities folder under Applications
type: telnet yourdomain.com 21

You should receive some login messages. If you don't, the port is blocked by either your firewall, router, or ISP

Thanks DewKnight. Looks like Port 21 is OK. Here's the Terminal messages:

Connected to robcubbon.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [TLS] ----------
220-You are user number 4 of 50 allowed.
220-Local time is now 20:07. Server port: 21.
220-IPv6 connections are also welcome on this server.
220 You will be disconnected after 25 minutes of inactivity.

Everything's fine with FTP clients such as Cyberduck and Fetch.

Will try the backslash before public_html but it'll be a while before I know if it works as the problem's intermittent.

But thanks for that. I really should know more about Terminal.
