Ahh, your comments are correct. However, you can manually download and install most programs yourself, into any directory you want.
Having scripta do directory manipulation is not an easy thing, but I'm sure it's on the schedule of things to do... John

Yup, I wouldn't mind it. Got a friend who wants a forum installed but I don't want to upload it myself because I'm on dial-up...(**** slow things :P)
Maybe Scripta can look at how Fantastico does it, if that's possible? |

That, coupled with my inexperience, lack of time, P.O.S computer and restrictive dial-up account means I never really get far with scripts. :crash:

it would also be nice to be able to install the scripts into the index.. ie www.mysite.com rather than needing a /folder .As there are many portals in scripta that could and should be the starting page of any site.

You can easily accomplish this with a 'drag and drop' capable FTP program. I did it with PostNuke when I modified my site. Just dragged the entire contents of my NUKE directory up to "public_html". That allowed me to play with the Nuke site a bit before taking down the old site.

If there are config paths, you can quite certainly just remove the /subdir.
NUKE moved, if I recall, without problem. Also, I installed Xoops to the root folder. A third option is to use HTACCESS to redirect... John

As for how scripta "looks"... what does that matter? :p Functionality means everything and looks mean almost nothing. There is a link and a description to each in the scripta thing and if you'd like more information, it's all open source software so type yahoo.com or google.com and search to the software in question. Pictures and "pretties" just slow the loading of the page :p Now as for installing through scripta period, I suggest not doing it. Scripta installs don't allow custom installs. They install everything as default. Sure, if you don't plan on changing anything that will work great. But of all the open source software I've ever installed for myself or anyone at all I've always customized it to fit the needs of myself or whoever. Scripta installs make doing that twice as difficult as you'd have to install it, download it, configure and customize it, and reupload it. Seems a bit of a waste when you can do all that on your own pc and then upload and install it when you're done with the customizations ![]() |

Scripts on subdomains
I also want to use scripta to install blogging scripts for my hostees (subdomains)
Anyway I want more cool scripts in scripta, there are so many portals there and they are like useless for people like me.. :whome: |
